Frequently asked questions

The simplest first step is Fitek's PDF to PEPPOL tool, which lets you send compliant e-invoices without any system integration — you can try it for free. For full automation, book a free demo and our team will map your accounting/ERP setup to a compliant e-invoicing and reporting workflow well before the 2027 deadline.

Failing to meet the new obligations can result in fines of up to €10,000, rising to up to €100,000 for repeated violations. Preparing early removes the risk and avoids a last-minute rush. (Confirm exact figures with your compliance team.)

PEPPOL is a pan-European network for exchanging electronic documents securely between businesses and authorities. Slovakia is adopting a "5-corner" model, which adds the tax authority as an additional party so invoice data is reported to the Financial Administration in near real time, alongside the standard sender–provider–provider–receiver exchange. Fitek connects to the PEPPOL network on your behalf.

Invoices must be issued, sent and received in a structured electronic format based on the European standard EN 16931, in either UBL 2.1 or UN/CEFACT CII syntax. A PDF on its own is not a compliant e-invoice — it must be a machine-readable structured file. Fitek can convert and exchange invoices in the required formats.

The mandate applies to all VAT-registered businesses established in Slovakia. From 1 January 2027 they must issue and receive invoices electronically for domestic business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) transactions. (Confirm scope details with official guidance before publishing.)
